Veteran Dancers Group.

 

In 1998, with the occasion of our 40th anniversary, the head of the Esbart decided to get the maximum number of dancers of all times of the association to have a performance together. Over 150 dancers were regrouped and under the name “40 years of dance” there was a performance at the “Centre Cultural de Caixa Terrassa” which astonished the audience for 3 hours. The emotion emanating from such a spectacle was huge. On that date, the idea of creating a permanent group of veteran dancers came across. They meet to rehearse on a regular basis and perform from time to time. In January 1999, with the end of the 40th anniversary dinner, the Veteran Dancers Group was created. The group is formed by dancers of all times of the Esbart, from founders to much more recent ones, and at present counts on 50 dancers. In 2000 the 1st “Festival de Dansaires Veterans de l’Esbart Egarenc” was created, and the “Grup de Veterans de l’Esbart Amics de la Dansa” were invited. This festival takes place every, usually, two years. Our goal is that, further to some performances or some important event, and to cooperate with some other veteran group, to make the “Festival de Dansaires Veterans de l’Esbart Egarenc” become, in time, a Catalan dances prestigious festival renouned by all.
